About Us

The Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers

ISHRAE was founded in 1981 at New Delhi by a group of eminent HVAC&R professionals. ISHRAE today has more than 12,000 HVAC&R professionals as members and additionally there are 7,500 Student-members. ISHRAE operates from 51+ Chapters and Sub Chapters spread all over India, with HQ in Delhi.

It is led by a team of elected officers, who are members of the Society, working on a voluntary basis, and collectively called the Board of Governors.

HVAC&R is an integral part of practically every industry. It is difficult to witness many applications without use of HVAC&R. HVAC&R is no longer a luxury and is a part and parcel of modernized urban living. Currently the Indian HVAC industry is more than Rs. 25,000 crores strong and the Indian Refrigeration & Cold Chain industry is even bigger.

Further, HVAC&R Industry is poised to have an exponential growth and requires huge skilled manpower at all levels, under multiple disciplines. The rapid urbanization along with strong infrastructural development will continue to propel the demand.

Student Activities

Helps Develop Your Skills & Gain Competitive Advantage

Student activities form an important part of ISHRAE's aims & objectives. ISHRAE encourages formation of Student Chapters (minimum strength of 20 student members in a college) in various Engineering / Architectural colleges and then works closely with Student Chapters. In case a college is not a Student Chapter, the Student members get linked to the nearest Society location (Chapter / Sub Chapter).

Currently ISHRAE has over 9,000 student members, spread over 300+ colleges all across India.
